Television and Museum Features
De Nieuwe Vermeer, National Dutch Television (NPO, Omroep MAX)
Edwin IJpeij reached the final of the television series De Nieuwe Vermeer, in which artists re-imagined lost works by Johannes Vermeer. His painting The Three Marys at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier was subsequently selected for display at the Freedom Museum in Groesbeek.
The work offers a contemporary reading of a vanished Vermeer composition, reframed through themes of grief, resilience and the human cost of war. Its inclusion of Ukrainian sitters added emotional and political depth to the museum presentation.
